Whilst at university in 2012, I joined my Students' Union Radio Station, Radio Sonar.
I joined as a member of the technology team, ready to use my technical knowledge from my undergraduate course in Media Technology to help run the equipment at the Radio Station.
Over weekends, I helped overlook the syndication of a networked National Student Radio Chart Show.
As part of my role in the Technology Team, I helped maintain the studios. The main radio broadcast console used by the station was the Analogue Soundcraft RM105. I found the RM105 a lovely bit of kit to work with, as the modules were easily user-serviceable in our electronics labs. I repaired a number of mic-input cards.

In 2013, I was elected onto the Radio Station's committee as their Head of Web, as part of my role, I rebuilt the station's website.
The website was written and designed bespoke for the radio station, using Concrete5 (now known as Concrete CMS) as a CMS system.
We developed a good working relationship with our local community radio station, Voice FM. Our student radio station would be syndicated to their FM radio station, and I would ensure the continuity of our output to their network.
In 2014, I helped the radio station host The National Student Radio Chart Show. I worked with the production team to programme the show's timings down to the second, as well as facilitating a live performance on air by a local artist. The efforts attached to the production of the show was recognised nationally, receiving a nomination for the best Student Radio Chart Show, for which we achieved Bronze.

The last project I worked on with the Student Radio Station was rebuilding the Playout System Server for the station. The first phase was completed successfully.
The next phase of improvements planned for the station included sending GPIO Player Start/Stop commands between the broadcast console and playout server, as well as collecting dry vocal logs from individual microphones.
This latter phase was abandoned due to an internal dispute during University Building maintenance works.
