Having gone vegan in 2023, I began watching videos of animal rights activism online, and one of the methods of outreach that I found particularly interesting was the approach taken using Elwood's Organic Dog Meat.
The premise of Elwood's Organic Dog Meat was a tool to challenge cognitive dissonance between people and the choices of animals that they choose to commodify.
By placing dogs in the positions of animals that people traditionaly use for food, and using the same arguments used by people who farm or consume animal products I have found Elwood's useful in the process of planting seeds towards moving away from commodifying animals.
The first Elwood's Organic Dog Meat stand I held was in Bristol, UK in August 2024 outside of Barclay's Bank in Broadmead. Our table hosted a range of Elwood's produce, including several flavours of "Dog Meat" and samples of Plain / Chocolate Labrador milk.
Our stall in Bristol received subsequent coverage in The Mirror and Bristol Live.

Following our stand in Bristol, I attended Vegan Campout in 2024 and caught up with Elwood's Organic Dog Meat founder Molly Elwood.
Molly discussed about the increase of traffic to the Elwood's Organic Dog Meat website in response to the media coverage of our event in Bristol, and I joined in with the stand talking to Vegans at Campout.
In December 2024, we chose to try a cheeky approach of setting up a stall at the Christmas Market in Bath, as well as bringing along some counter-protesters to bring some extra attention to our stall.
We had a number of productive conversations.
